As the very name suggests, the Liaison Interpreter has the task of establishing a link between two people who do not speak the same language.
The speaker(s) should stop to give the interpreter time to translate the content of the conversation.
This technique is normally used in business relationships or business meetings for very small groups.

The consecutive interpreter has a function not unlike that of the liaison interpreter.
The interpreter is present and close to the speakers, following the content of the conversation, and takes notes from which he or she translates the content of the speech, thus summarizing it.
This technique is used mainly in cases where there are not many participants and where short speeches
have to be translated into a single language only in places lacking equipment for simultaneous interpretation.
Examples: court appearances, press conferences, negotiations, incentive trips or training courses.

Telephone interpreters provide telephone interpretation.
The principle is simple: the service provider sets up a conference via telephone or Skype, for example, and brings together two or more speakers who do not speak the same language, placing between them a liaison interpreter who will translate the content of the conversation as it moves forward.
The service is similar to liaison interpretation, but without the physical presence of the speakers.

Video interpreting is a major development in telephone interpreting that is only possible with the widespread use of broadband Internet.
